Olivia's Memorial

We finally got Olivia's memorial finished! We learned quite a few things from dealing with companies that make the markers, and from dealing with the cemetery, number one being they don't care too much about your feelings or your loss- this is all business for them. It took months and months longer than it should have and included some ridiculous mistakes. Our granite block was actually made in Elberton, GA, so to save on time and shipping costs, we were just going to drive and pick it up. After Doug made the long trip up there, he was informed our granite had been loaded on a truck and shipped to Utah because of a misunderstanding. So we had to wait for it to get to Utah, and then had to wait for them to ship it back to Georgia. Then, my brother Russell made the trek up, again, and picked it up for us. After we finally got the bronze marker from the company in Utah, we had our dear friend, Duane Dauphin install it for us since the cemetery required it be installed by a licensed contractor. It is finally finished!

We couldn't be happier with the way it looks. We didn't want to focus on the fact that she was a baby when we lost her, because we know that she is not a baby now, she is a mature, "grown-up" spirit. It's easier for me to think of her like this too. I like that her grave is at the edge of the cemetery, against a fence lined with pretty green plants and trees, some of which are dogwoods. One of my favorites. It's a peaceful, quiet, beautiful place to go and sit and reflect on the things that matter most. We miss our little angel dearly, but we are more grateful than words can express that we know where she is. We know she is safe and happy and with the best company. How grateful we are for the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ. It has much more meaning to me now then it ever did before. How grateful I am that our family is sealed in the temple for time and all eternity. We know with out a doubt that we will see our sweet Olivia again some day.
