So I realize it's almost Valentines Day, but I thought I would put up pictures of what I made the kids and Doug for Christmas. (Mostly for my sisters who have been after me to put pictures up.) Most of the reason I haven't posted about these is because I wasn't done with the binding on Doug's quilt until Saturday. But hey, the rest of everything was done by Christmas Eve. So I give myself a little credit for that.
Last Christmas we were given a quiet book by my brother-in-law and his sweet wife. The kids really love it, of course, but it has always been a goal of mine to make one with my own hands. It took FOREVER but it was actually pretty fun. Most of my ideas I got from Pinterest.
Each section of the caterpillar has velcro sewn on. You can take them off and put them in the pocket. The flowers button on and off.
The balloons are attached by snaps.
The barn page with finger puppets inside.
My favorite, the garden page. I sewed buttonholes into the dirt so you can pull the carrots and beets out and put them back in. The apples have velcro on the backs.
You can put the fruits and veggies in the back of the truck. The wheels button on.
Really ghetto clothes. I should take a little time and make some descent ones some day...
The mailbox page. The envelopes open so you can pull out the mail.
The road page. Again, slightly ghetto, but the kids like driving cars through the tunnel and getting gas with the red shoelace.
This is a little magnetic fishing game I made for the kids. I loved making each little fish. I sewed the washers part way out of the mouth so the magnet would hook a little better. It works great.
This is a t-shirt quilt I made for Doug. I used old t-shirts he gave me the okay to use in a quilt like this years ago. He doubts that he gave me permission to use about half of these, but hey- still turned out okay I think.
