It's Been a While

It's been forever since I've updated our blog so I'm doing to do a photo dump and update anyone who wants to know on our life over the past 3 months. Here we go.

Halloween.
Juliann loved helping us carve the pumpkin this year. Jackson, however wanted nothing to do with it.

Here are the kids at our church's trunk or treat. They had a blast and ate WAY too much candy. Juliann was thrilled that she won the cutest contest award.

Doug and his dad and all his brothers minus the one who's in Brazil on a mission right now ran the Tough Mudder in Utah in October. It was freezing cold and they had to do things like jump in pools filled with ice and crawl through mud while you were electrocuted repeatedly with live wires. Not my cup of tea... but those Mitchell boys are so tough. They all finished the race and did awesome!

Daddy's number one fan:
Doug was sworn in as an official Attorney. My Dad got to do the honors. It was a really cool experience.

These pictures are all almost the same, but Jackson's face cracks me up in each one, so I just had to put all of them. He is such a goof:

We enjoyed a lot of beautiful days that are part of the blessing of living in Georgia in October and November. We spent a lot of time at parks.

This is us at Memorial Park. My family used to go here when I was little.

Here's a little about our sweet Juliann. She is such a little mama and she loves to take care of all her dollies and stuffed animals. She loves loves loves to draw. For a while she went through no less than 50 sheets of paper a day, filling them with her colorful artwork- pictures of sunshines, spiders, herself and her brother, Santa and his reindeer, pumpkins, hand tracings, baby Jesus, flowers, birthday cakes and the list goes on. (Santa brought her an easel for Christmas with a chalk board and dry erase board. Now we don't kill forests of trees each week anymore.) She is a big helper to her mama and loves playing with Jackson. She is truly a girly girl, loving all things pink and purple. She loves to accessorize with hair bows, jewelry and shoes and pretend she is a princess. We are obviously still trying to figure out if this girl needs a nap some days.

Sorry about my "Ows!" in this video. Jackson was jumping off the couch onto my shins. It hurt. Hey, anything to get a descent video, right?

Here's a little about our crazy little Jackson man. He is a true boy. He loves anything with wheels or wings especially choo choo trains. His favorite thing to do is find a car for him and a car for me and say "drive, drive, drive" until I drive around with him on a table top. He could do it alllll day. He managed to cut his chin open at the park one day and chip his front tooth in the tub all within about two weeks. I recently weaned him off the pacifier (woo hoo!!!) and it really wasn't too bad. Despite his boyishness he is quite affectionate. He still likes to give hugs and snuggle sometimes. He makes us laugh, he loves Cookie Monster and he eats like a vacuum. Yes that is dirt on his mouth...

This  video is the best I could get of him. He often can be found walking around the house screaming Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. You can get a vague idea of what it sounds like here:

Christmas was so fun. It was the first Christmas in three years that Doug wasn't studying like crazy for law school finals up until a few days before Christmas.

Doug convinced me to let us cut down a 25 foot tree, (or what it seemed like). It barely fit in our house, but it ended up growing on me. I love having a real tree.
I will put up a separate post of a few of the things I made for Doug and the kids. I haven't taken pictures yet...

Nowadays we can be found doing a lot of things like this while Doug's at work.

And speaking of Doug's work, I guess I should give up update on that too while I'm at it. At his swearing in he met a great guy who offered to let him set up at his extra office, rent free for the couple of months following. While it was a great opportunity it wasn't exactly what we were hoping for and was about a 45 minute commute each way. So now Doug has set up shop in my Dad's old office! He's renting space from the same lawyer that my Dad worked with for many years. It is strange but so cool! He's also doing some real estate work for another attorney that's helping to pay the bills while he works on building up clientele.

Basically, we are incredibly blessed and happy.
