Trick or Treat (late)

Better late than never, right?

Not long before Halloween, we went to yet another pumpkin patch with Doug's family. (We had so much fun at the other one, we just couldn't resist.) It was super fun. There were tons of activities for kids to do and of course a whole bunch of pumpkins to pick from.

I had the privilege of riding the barrel train with Juliann. I tried to act all cool, but in truth I was hanging on for dear life. There were a couple of times I thought the sheer force from one of the sharp turns was going to flip me right out onto the ground. Thank goodness I had Juliann to keep me safe.

This was by far Juliann's favorite activity in the whole place. An awesome horse swing made out of tires:

Yeah, sadly this is the best family picture we got.

From L to R: Juliann, Boppy (Grandpa), Nanny, Jackson, Halie, Liz

My highly skilled husband hit the hay bale with the corn cannon! And won us a free ice cream cone. One of the many reasons I married him...

Jackson was intrigued by the helicopter for a loooong time:

We were happy to finally find an evening (the day before Halloween) that Doug was home early enough from school for us to finally carve our zillion pumpkins.

Juliann painted hers and had the time of her life.

Here are the finished products. Doug's is the angry one. I think he was as proud of his jack-o-lantern as he was of our kids the days they were born. (He took at least as many pictures, and he STILL won't throw it away I'm embarrassed to say). But you have to admit, it is pretty impressive.

We spent Halloween at Nanny and Boppy's house. Juliann got to go trick or treating for the first time, and she loved it. In the short time we were out her costume was interpreted as an ewok (however you spell those furry creatures on Star Wars) and a mouse. She's supposed to be a monkey. She got really good at saying "Trick or Treat" and "Thank you."

Doug's mom continued her amazing tradition of homemade Halloween donuts. They were perfect and they are to die for.

Awesomeness all around. I'm very impressed with Doug's corn cannon skills. And I'm jealous that you have a mother in law nearby who makes donuts.
