Berry Picking

One of the perks of living in Oregon is all the amazing fresh produce. There are tons of U-Pick farms all around, so last week we decided to try one out. We went to the Willamette Valley Fruit Company where all u-pick berries are a dollar a pound. Their blueberry fields were closed for the day for field work, but the marionberries and strawberries were in season and man they were loaded. (By the way, marionberries are a cross between blackberries and raspberries that were invented here in our own little Marion county. This is our claim to fame. They are to die for.) We all had a really fun time picking away, but Juliann had pretty much died and gone to heaven. We let her roam free in the strawberry patch after she got sick of being hauled around. She grabbed any and every strawberry she could get her juicy little hands on. (Including the green ones and the black ones.) She had the time of her life, as you can tell by the pictures:

(I look really awful in this last picture, but this is proof that I was there.)

We had a great time and now the plan is to make lots of delicious jam and eat lots of frozen berries. We can't wait to go back.
