I guess this means she is really chubby and she has a head that's almost as wide as her body is long... That's okay though. I take it as she's growing and healthy and has a large brain.
This doctor visit was much better than the first one. Well, I guess I should say I was much more on top of things at this one. At the first one, Doug and I took her out of the house for the first time since she had been home. Naturally, we were running late and I was hurriedly packing the new diaper bag for the first time as she was screaming in the carseat while Doug buckled her in. We ran out the door and got there late. When we went back to the exam room, they told us to make sure she had a clean, dry diaper and to take her onesie off. We set her up on the table and took off the dirty diaper only to see her let loose a lake of urine. One of us scrambled for a cloth to clean up while the other tried to stop the flow. This, of course, soaked her clothes. It was then that I realized I didn't have a diaper. I HADN'T BROUGHT A CLEAN DIAPER?!?! Nice. Luckily, the nurse let us borrow one of theirs. We got her diaper on and took her soaking clothes off. The nurse weighed and measured her and the doctor came in and did his check up and then it was time to go. It was then that I realized I hadn't brought a change of clothes. By this point I was ready to cry. Juliann was screaming non-stop, everything was wet, and we didn't have a change of clothes. Why had I even brought this blankety-blank diaper bag anyways?! Well, what else were we supposed to do than put the wet clothes back on? (I know... I am a horrible mother.) I thought about maybe asking for more diapers to wrap her in and put her back in her carseat, but I was too embarrassed. So we all went home frustrated, and Juliann all wet, hidden under a blanket from the scornful eyes the other patients in the waiting room.
So, as you can see, this doctor visit I was much more prepared for. I really don't like having to see her get shots, but I just have to keep reminding myself it's for the best.
Good luck to all of those soon-to-be parents out there! You're in for some fun times.
