Jackson Turns Three

Jackson turned three on the 24th! We had the family come over to help us celebrate. He chose pizza for his birthday supper so we turned it into a pizza buffet with all different kinds to choose from. The only thing he asked for with his cake was that he wanted it to be green, his favorite color. I figured I could work with that, and proceeded to make it a hundred times more difficult than it needed to be. I'm great at doing that. :) I was happy that he recognized what it was supposed to be. I forgot to take a picture before he pulled some of the strawberries off, but you get the idea.

He was really excited about his presents. Juliann made him some paper dinosaur puppets on popsicle sticks. Those were my favorite. He also got a Hot Wheels track to race his many cars on, a monster truck with a remote that broke within about five minutes and a toy gun that lights up and makes noises when you shoot it. He was in heaven.

I'm going to try to start doing birthday interviews for each of the kids birthdays. Here is Jackson's:

In other news, Jackson is potty trained! We started some time in January I think, kind of on a whim. He had been going potty every night before he got in the tub and sometimes he would have a dry diaper for long stretches of time. We picked him out some big boy undies at the store one day, and after showing it off to Daddy, who was very impressed- he was excited to get started. He learned so fast. I was so proud and incredibly relieved. Within a day and a half pretty much he was telling me every time he needed to go pee. I was shocked at how easy he made it. Number two took about a week before it was consistently in the potty- he had a little "stage fright" (as my Mom called it) at first, but once he got over it, that was consistent too. And he started waking up to go pee in the night! I was so grateful because potty training was pretty much a nightmare with Juliann. Glad to check that off the list. And we are not buying diapers for the first time in a very long time!

We love our sweet, little man so much. He loves to be funny and make people laugh. He is silly, playful, rambunctious, mischievous, smart, cuddly, caring. He loves all things boy- Dinosaurs, cars, trucks, tractors (anything with wheels basically), jumping in puddles, looking at and holding bugs, and speeding around on his tricycle at break-neck speeds. He likes to be independent and is OCD about certain things. For example he has five blankies. That's right, five. He has to have all of them in his bed in a certain place as well as his sock monkey and lion, and he has to have his teddy bear and "Charley" on his dresser- or he won't go to bed. He is always the first to notice if someone's wearing a new shirt and tell them he likes it. He loves to play with Juliann. Their current favorite games are "rough-housing", doggy/kitty and owner, and mommy and daddy- where Jackson goes to his office and makes lots of money for his "honey." He loves to zoom around the house pushing his dump truck and also spends lots of time taking over my craft table with his cars and dinosaurs. We love him!
