Change

The last couple of months we've had a lot going on in our family. Almost too much. But they have all been good things, and a lot of changes.

First, Doug graduated!!! Woo hoo! Law school is history! We are all so proud of him and so glad it's over.

Next, Juliann turned three! I'll do a separate post on some other day.

Next, we moved from Salem, Oregon back to Georgia. We are living with my parents for a couple of months while Doug is studying his tail off for the Bar Exam which will be July 24 and 25th. The kids are in heaven here. Juliann disappears for hours at a time with her "best friend," Kaylyn playing with baby dolls and having tea parties to her little heart's content. Jackson is fully satisfied just wandering around outside for hours playing with balls and trying to kiss the dog. He's only gotten zapped the the electric fence once so far. And no, he didn't learn his lesson.

Doug is planning on opening up his own law practice here after he passes the Bar. So keep him in mind if you ever need some top notch legal services.

Last girls night out in Salem with the greatest friends ever.

 In Between:

Doug and I drove a moving truck 2700 miles from Salem, Oregon to Winder, Georgia. My incredibly wonderful and patient in-laws offered to keep Juliann and Jackson with them the week that we were driving and then fly them out that weekend. This was such a huge blessing. I am pretty sure none of us would currently have a shred of sanity left had we tried to drive the kids with us.

We had a great trip. We got to stop in Utah and visit my brand new gorgeous niece, Leah and stay a while with my sister Michelle's family.

We also got to visit my sister Rebecca, Ben and their adorable baby, Trevor.

And we were lucky enough to get to visit Doug's brothers Matt and Jake and their beautiful wives. It was so good to see them and it was such a fun day.

After that the trip was pretty uneventful until we stopped for gas somewhere in Missouri I think and realized that our poor car (which we were towing behind the truck) had had the alarm going off for who knows how long. It wouldn't stop beeping no matter what we tried, so Doug had to pull the fuse. The battery was completely dead after that. So lesson learned- disable your car's alarm before you tow it across the country.

And that's about it. We are now adjusting to life here in Georgia and trying to get used to the sunshine again. We are excited to get a place of our own sometime, but also incredibly grateful for my amazing parents for letting us mooch off of them for a bit. We are sad to have left behind close family and friends. We will miss them so much and will definitely keep in touch. But we are excited to be starting a new chapter in our lives.

Hooray for change! I'm so glad the cross-country move is over! And I'm intrigued by Doug's hat in the graduation pics. Is it a hexagon? Is that what fancy law school grads get? Did he sing "my hat it has six corners, six corners has my hat" when he was wearing it?
