Weekend with Gramps

Last weekend we had the pleasure of having my dad on our side of the country for a couple of weeks. Imagine that! He was attending a conference in Reno and he went to all the trouble of flying up to Salem for the weekend to come see us. It was so much fun and it was so good to see him. Juliann warmed right up to him and acted like she had known him her whole life. They became best friends quickly. We wore Dad out by taking him on a tour of the Law School, out to the windy cold Oregon coast, to Mo's famous seafood restaurant, to church, to the playground and then back to the airport. We kept him up way too late, especially considering he was still on Georgia time (only a three hour difference), forced him to eat cookies and milk and Reese's icecream, and made him sleep on our too short couch that happened to have a hornet crawling around on it after he had slept there all night. (Thank goodness it didn't sting anybody, but I did find it odd that it showed up because we never get bugs in our house. I think Dad brought it in his suitcase.)
