Nothing tells you spring is here like seeing the popcorn on the trees! I've been singing about it to Juliann all her life, and now she is finally seeing it for herself. One huge advantage to living in a place like this is we get spring a little earlier than some. We've been seeing little green buds poking out of the ground for a while now, but now there are daffodils everywhere! Juliann absolutely loves to be outside even though it's still a little nippy. She understands the word flower and knows how to "smell" them (in between trying to "pick" them). Of course, we have a few gorgeous sunny days followed by 24 hours of straight rain, but we are hopeful.
Juliann and I picked Doug up from school the other day and headed over to the park across the street. It was a beautiful day! We took her over to a little playground that was cram packed with kids. She's still too little to really play, but she was entranced by the wood chips on the ground and really, really wanted to eat them. (By the way, how do you clean dirt out from under a 10 month old's fingernails?) We are going to try to go back another day when it's not so crowded to give her a chance in the baby swing there. Here are some pictures from the park and from some walks we've been on.

I like the cute little hand in this one:
