Juliann Grace Mitchell

She made it!!! She's finally here! Just to let you know the details, I went in for a non-stress test on the 15th to have the fluid levels checked and make sure everything was still alright in there. We had the test in the morning, and the lady told us it looked like her heart rate was going down just a little after a few of the contractions. They told us she's probably better out than in at this point and started the process of getting me induced! We were so ecstatic! We had really been hoping they would end up inducing me. They gave me a dose of Prostin gel and sent me home for 6 hours. When we came back for the second dose, they said they were just going to have me stay overnight instead of having to go home and then coming back in the middle of the night. It was a good thing they had me stay, because that second dose really kick started the labor. I started having painful contractions about 10:00 Friday night, got an epidural about 3:00 on Saturday morning (which was heaven sent) and Juliann Grace was born at 8:20 later that morning.

She weighed 8 lbs and 1 oz. and was 19 and a half inches long. Giving birth was an incredible and crazy experience. I am so thankful that everything went as smoothly as it did. I am also glad that our doctor happened to be out of town that weekend. Apparently he had left strict instructions with the doctor on-call to not induce me no matter what. The on-call doctor told us not to tattle on him, and said we should name our baby after the lady who did the non-stress test and recommended that I be induced. Her name is Donna. I'll have to make her a huge cake or something. Thank you Donna!

As you can see, our little Juliann is just as cute as can be. She's named after her Grandma, Julie, and her Grammy, ViAnn in the picture above. She definitely has a headful of hair. We don't know where she gets it from because neither Doug nor I had hair like she does. She is a wonderful baby so far too! She's a great nurser and for the past 3 or 4 nights, she's slept like a rock for about 5 hours before she wakes up to eat again! Mom says not to worry about her sleeping so long and to just enjoy it. She said that we were all about 2 years old before we did that. :)

This is one of our favorite faces she makes

Sleeping Beauty

This picture was taken just today. As you can see, sometimes her hair is unmanageable. This will be fun for Mommy! Go Cougars!

Hello. This is Megnio and I'd just like to say that when I was a wee bear, I had hair identical to this one. Mystery solved.
